Memorial Resurrection

Flags whipping, people cheering,
Bands marching, gum popping,
Picnics munching,
. . .this is Memorial Day.

Flags draping, tears falling,
trumpet playing, guns saluting,
Silent lunches,
. . .this is Memorial Day.

Flags torn, orders shouted,
Bombs exploding, soldiers falling,
Fertive gobbling,
. . .this is Memorial Day.

Empty tomb, sorrow spent,
Mary weeping, angels questioning,
Jesus dining,
. . .this is Resurrection Day!

Lord, in these turbulent, uncertain, violent times. . .bring us again to your empty tomb and Resurrection Day! Thank you for the peace that only your presence can bring.
